In early May, Miranda Lambert announced she and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, purchased a 2020 Airstream Globetrotter. The purchase was spurred by Lambert’s desire to travel across the country and truly experience all of the places she’s been to over the years.

“When people ask me questions about all the traveling I’ve done , my answer is pretty much the same every time. ‘I’ve been everywhere but I haven’t seen much of anything.’ I’ve been touring for 19 years and most times we just roll in , play our show , and roll to the next town. I’ve only gotten to spend some real time in a few of the places I’ve been,” Lambert wrote on Instagram.

Before they bought the airstream, Lambert and McLoughlin were stuck at home due to the current world situation. While Lambert appreciated the time off and enjoyed being at home with her husband and many animals, she was itching to get back on the road.

I realized something. Just because I can’t travel and play shows doesn’t mean I can’t travel and make music,” Lambert said.

So she and McLoughlin bought their new Airstream, which they named “The Sheriff,” and vowed to take it on the road. “I’ll be pulling this rig all over the country,” Lambert said. “I know that seeing the world through the windshield again will bring creative vibes.”

The couple hung around home for a little while longer before they finally embarked on a six-day road trip with their Airstream. They traveled from Tennessee to New York, where Brendan is from and where his one-year-old son lives.

Lambert posted a series of photos and videos from their first road trip/camping adventure, which took them 1,000 miles across four states: Tennessee, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York.

“It was a nice change of pace,” Lambert said. “Something about the highway is calming, and at the same time keeps you completely focused.”

The “Bluebird” singer let her followers know that her husband is a natural when it comes to road tripping and camping, and called him “the best navigator.” She also praised his ability to cook “anything” in a cast iron skillet by now, including her dad’s “campfire casserole.”

Of course we had to face time Rick Lambert to make sure we knew the tricks of the trade, but Brendan has cooking anything in this cast iron down to an art now,” Lambert wrote.

She said they are now experts at setting up camp, and can do so in less than ten minutes once they get the trailer pulled in. They’re sure to perfect their setup even more in the future, since Lambert told her followers to “stay tuned” to hear about later adventures.

Before they took off and hit the road, Lambert shared an acoustic performance of “Bluebird” from her porch. She dedicated the performance to all of the hard-working people who have given their time and hearts to others during this trying time.

On top of having fun, Lambert expressed hope that she’d be inspired musically while traveling across the country with The Sheriff. We hope her adventures lead her to write other songs like “Bluebird” in the future.
