Alligator Swimming In Her Pool

Kerrie Kibbe woke up in the middle of the night because she heard a weird noise in her backyard. When she went outside to check out what the raucous was she saw a seven-foot alligator swimming around in her pool.

Living in Port Charlotte, Florida the people are familiar with alligators but no one in the area has ever had an alligator sneak into their pool. When Kerri found out it was a gator it was super early in the morning and her kids were sleeping. She didn’t want to wake them so she waited a few hours before calling the police.

“It was just so unnatural,” Kerrie said. “I was worried that if it did get out, I wouldn’t know if it was actually really gone.”

Private Animal Trapper Was Called

A private animal trapper was called to the scene and got a noose around its head and it attempted to get away by doing the death roll. At first, because the gator was under the water she thought it was maybe 3 or 4 feet but once it got out of the water and they measured it they found out it was seven feet. This may be the first gator she’s seen but not the first wildlife.

“I live in the middle of town and it’s still like a wild kingdom,” Kerrie said. “I’ve seen coyotes, bobcats, snakes, gopher turtles, hawks, owls, bunnies…it’s crazy.”

Going through this experience has made Kerrie paranoid. “I’m hoping my kids won’t be in fear of the pool,” she said. “And I’m sure I’ll be the only one letting the dogs out at night from now on.” Luckily for her, she, her kids and the dog weren’t hurt.
