Morgan Wallen Continues To Smash Records In Country Music
Morgan Wallen has just broken a record previously held by Garth Brooks. His album One Thing At A Time has clocked its 75th non-consecutive week at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart. This officially makes Wallen the artist who has spent the most time at #1, with a collective total of 174 weeks.
One Thing At A Time was the third studio album from the “Last Night” singer. It was released in March 2023 and contains a staggering 36 tracks. His previous record, Dangerous: The Double Album, also dominated the chart. It holds the record for the most weeks a specific album has spent at the top of the chart, at 97 weeks.
Garth Brooks was the previous leader, having spent 173 non-consecutive weeks at the top. These weeks were spread out over more than two decades, beginning in 1990 with the release of his album No Fences. The last time Brooks topped the album chart was in December 2017.
Wallen, however, has broken this record in just five years, beginning in August 2020.
Alabama (125 weeks), Willie Nelson (107 weeks), and Taylor Swift (101 weeks) also had noteworthy stints on top of the chart.
Additional Records Broken By One Thing At A Time
One Thing At A Time debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart. It spent 19 weeks on top, setting the record for the longest run by a country album in the #1 spot.
In the week of the album’s release, all 36 tracks charted on the Billboard 100. This broke Drake’s previous record (27) for most songs by an artist on the chart at the same time.
Additionally, Wallen became the first country artist to capture both the year-end number-one positions for album and single in the same year when One Thing At A Time was named the top album for 2023 in Billboard’s year-end album chart.
Morgan Wallen To Release A New Album This Year
