Nancy Guthrie Has Been Missing Since February 1

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of TODAY host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over two weeks now.

84-year-old Nancy was reported missing on February 1. Since then, a massive search has been launched in an attempt to locate her and the person (or persons) responsible for her disappearance. President Trump was also briefed on the case.

The case has been full of twists and turns. There’s been talk of multiple ransom notes being sent to various media outlets. Nancy’s children, Savannah, Camron, and Annie, have shared several videos speaking to her kidnapper(s) and begging them to bring her home.

One of the largest breaks in the case came when the FBI released some chilling photos and a video of a person outside of Nancy’s home on the evening of her disappearance.

The images and video show a masked person wearing a backpack as they approach Nancy’s front door. They turn around, grab some flowers or plants from the ground, and attempt to cover the doorbell camera.

FBI director Kash Patel said the footage they obtained “may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”

In a more recent update, the FBI is awaiting DNA results from a glove recovered near Nancy’s home. However, any DNA discovery isn’t necessarily a slam dunk that will lead to an immediate arrest and conviction.

A match doesn’t automatically equal guilt,” retired FBI agent Jason Pack clarified when speaking with FOX News, “It tells you that person’s biological material came into contact with that item at some point. You still need to build the narrative around it. When? How? Is there an innocent explanation?

Pack added, “So a match accelerates your investigation. It doesn’t close it.”

Nancy’s Children Cleared As Suspects

Millions have been following the Nancy Guthrie case since it started. Naturally, people have started coming up with their own theories as to who could be responsible for her disappearance.

Many have accused various members of Nancy’s family, including her children and their spouses, of being behind the kidnapping. However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos squashed such speculation in a statement shared on Monday, February 16.

To be clear…the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case. The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel,” the statement read.

Chief Nanos continued, “The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple…please, I’m begging you the media to honor your profession and report with some sense of compassion and professionalism.”
