Halloween is the best time of the year to decorate your home with horrifying props, lights, fog machines, and spooky sounds. Most people keep their decorations fairly basic and cartoonish, however, Steven Novak has decided to take it up a notch and get more real with it.

So real in fact, that the police were called multiple times to investigate his property after neighbors and passerby got a little too spooked.

“Neighbors told me cop cars were in front of my house a lot during the day,” Steven explained to the Dallas Observer. “I was only home twice to receive them. They told me they thought it was cool and that they were only there because they were required to reply to complaints from the sergeant.”

On Steven’s property, the decorations look like this: one dummy lies on the roof with a machete sticking out of its head, another dummy lies on the ground with a security safe squashing its head and the third dummy lies on the walkway to the house with fake blood splattered all over the walkway. There’s a zombie horde in the window and a wheelbarrow in the yard with body parts hanging out of it.

“I’m most proud of the wheelbarrow tipped over by the street full of Hefty bags, looking like a failed attempt to dispose of the dismembered bodies in the middle of the night. A kid walked by and asked me what happened to them; I said ‘they ate too many Skittles.'” Steven told Dallas Observer.

He says he thinks he could have used more blood and his plans were to do way more horrifying things than he did. He says he will showcase his masterplan next year.
