In a sweet video, Neil says hello to everyone, acknowledges that it’s a rough time right now and encourages everyone to sing together in hopes that it may make someone feel just a little bit better.

“Hi everybody. This is Neil Diamond and I know we’re going through a rough time right now, but I love ya, and I think if we all sing together, well, we’ll feel just a little bit better. Give it a try, okay?”

With his guitar in hand and the fireplace going, Neil went on to perform his hit “Sweet Caroline.” Anyone that knows the words would quickly notice that a very familiar part of the song had been changed. The original lyrics of “Hands… Touchin’ hands… Reachin’ out… Touchin’ me… Touchin’ you” had been changed to, “Hands… Washin’ hands… Reachin’ out… Don’t touch me… I won’t touch you.”

With over 4.3 million views the video has definitely garnered some well-deserved attention. Hopefully, people are taking notes and singing these lyrics while they are proactively washing their hands.
