New “Yellowstone” Prequel “1923” Gains Another Famous Cast Member

The Yellowstone universe is continuing to expand.

Last year we got our first look into the Duttons’ family history through the prequel series 1883. The series followed James and Margaret Dutton (played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) as they traveled across the West with their two children, Elsa and John. An unfortunate event leads the Duttons to settle in Montana, where the modern day Yellowstone ranch is located.

Another new Yellowstone prequel is on the way this year. The new series was originally called 1932, but its title was changed to 1923. This new series will follow another generation of Duttons and the various hardships they face during that era of history.

Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren were announced as the stars of the series earlier this year, though no details about their characters are known.

The news of Ford and Mirren’s casting was the only big casting news fans heard for months. Finally, we learned about another famous figure attached to the project.

Deadline reports that Sebastian Roché has officially joined the cast of 1923 in a recurring role. You may recognize Roché for playing Kurt Mendel in Odyssey 5, for portraying Jerry Jacks in General Hospital, or for playing Mikael Mikaelson in The Originals.

No details about Roché’s 1923 character are known at this time. But we’re excited to see him join the cast!

1923 is currently in production. It’s expected to be released in December, but an exact release date has not been named.

In the meantime, relieve one of the standout scenes from the former prequel series, 1883, in the clip below. It features Sam Elliott as Shea Brennan and Isabel May as Elsa Dutton.
