Nightbirde Writes Emotional “Thank You” To Fans After Surprise AGT Appearance

America’s Got Talent has given a platform to many talented and inspiring people. One such person is Jane Marczewski, known by her stage name Nightbirde.

Nightbirde won the hearts of millions when she performed her original song “It’s Okay” during the auditions for Season 16 of AGT. The song is based on Nightbirde’s personal health struggles, as she is currently battling cancer.

“Last time I checked, I had some cancer in my lungs, my spine and my liver,” Nightbirde told the judges. Backstage, she said she has 2% chance of surviving.

Judge Simon Cowell was so touched by Nightbirde’s story and song, he pressed the golden buzzer for her. The YouTube video of her performance and golden buzzer moment has generated over 31 million views.

Unfortunately, Nightbirde had to drop out of the competition just weeks after her audition aired. In a post on social media, she revealed her health “has taken a turn for the worse” and said her “fight with cancer is demanding all of [her] energy and attention.”

“I am so sad to announce that I won’t be able to continue forward on this season of AGT,” she said. “Life doesn’t always give breaks to those that deserve it—but we knew that already.”

In a moving moment, Nightbirde made a surprise virtual appearance during a live episode of AGT that aired on Wednesday night (August 11).

Simon got choked up as he spoke to his golden buzzer recipient. He let her know she has his support:

“You made the decision, rightly so, that your health is your priority right now,” Simon said. “And I know the last time we spoke you actually said you feel like you let people down. Well, I just want to say, on behalf  of all of us, you haven’t let anyone down. Even though you haven’t competed, you have already won.”

After Nightbirde virtually appeared on AGT, she took to Twitter to thank all of her fans for thinking of her. In an emotional note, she wrote:

“Words cannot express my gratitude to have support and prayers coming in from all over the world and endless support from the @AGT family. Thank you all!“
