Members of the country music community respond to Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election
Donald Trump will become the 47th president of the United States of America. A near-record number of voters made their voices heard in what would prove to be a historic race.
For the first time in two decades, the victorious presidential candidate has won both the Electoral College and the popular vote.
Additionally, it is the first time in more than a century that a president will serve two non-consecutive terms. The last politician to do this was Grover Cleveland in the 1890s.
Country musicians, including Travis Tritt, Lee Greenwood, and Oliver Anthony, have begun to share their thoughts following Donald Trump’s political victory.
Oliver Anthony emphasizes the importance of unity following the election
As years pass, the American public has become more polarized on social and political issues. In a time when division is at an all-time high, Oliver Anthony penned a poignant message of unity in the wake of the election. He writes:
“Media via television and socials will do EVERYTHING they can from here on out to keep us polarized. It is done INTENTIONALLY to make us weak, angry and ineffective at solving the real inefficiencies and corruption that directly impact all of us, and directly impact our children’s future.”
The Virginia native reminds readers that we must all work together to enact real change.
“We were ALL placed in this moment in time for a purpose. There is a ton of work to be done on the ground level. We have to revert our entire community and communication structure back to “real life” and stop arguing with one another on these stupid social media platforms and immerse ourselves back into the real world.”
Oliver Anthony encourages his followers to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature
The “Rich Men North of Richmond” singer is not afraid to offer unfiltered commentary on the state of our society and political system. However, he uses his message to convey the importance of remaining anchored to “real life.” He shares:
“We are living in what could be reflected back on as the most pivotal moment in world history. I urge you to spend some of your time this week, disconnected from the internet and in nature if possible. Let God guide you and direct your path forward.”
Finally, he concludes:
“We have to start living in the real world again, not the virtual one.”
