Driver Hits Pedestrians In Downtown Nashville
One person has died and three others were taken to the hospital after a vehicle struck multiple people on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville on Saturday (August 1).
The Metro Nashville Police Department said the crash occurred at the intersection of Broadway and 4th Avenue in the afternoon. Authorities identified the driver as an 87-year-old man from Kentucky.

The intersection of 4th Avenue and Broadway remains closed following the incident. The vehicle involved in the crash remains at the location.
The incident remains under investigation as police work to determine what caused the crash. Further details about the victims and their conditions have not yet been released.
Nashville Mayor Releases Statement
Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell shared a statement following the tragic incident.
“This is an incredibly tragic event, and my heart goes out to the victims and their families impacted by this horrible moment,” O’Connell said.
The mayor continued, saying it was “unclear” the driver failed to stop for the pedestrians.
“Our main goals now are to take care of the victims and to keep everyone else safe.”
