Ozzy Osbourne Laid To Rest Following Private Funeral On July 31
Ozzy Osbourne was laid to rest on July 31, the day after his public funeral procession. His private funeral service occurred at his home in Buckinghamshire, England, a little over two hours from Birmingham.
The New York Post states his final resting place was reportedly beside a lake on his Buckinghamshire property. Guests reportedly in attendance included Rob Zombie, James Hetfield, Zakk Wylde, Corey Taylor, Stephen Rea, Yungblud, and Elton John.
The Post reports that Ozzy’s Black Sabbath bandmates, Terence “Geezer” Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward, were also in attendance.
Ozzy once spoke about his funeral plans during an interview in 2011. He made it clear he didn’t want the event to be an entirely somber occasion.
“…I do want to make sure it’s a celebration, not a mope-fest. I’d also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin; or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death.’ There’ll be no harping on the bad times. So to answer your question, yes, a bit of planning is the right thing to do for the family you leave behind. It’s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives. So by any measure, most of us in this country — especially rock stars like me — are very lucky. That’s why I don’t want my funeral to be sad. I want it to be a time to say ‘thanks.'”
