Millions Play The Violin – But No One Does It As Patriotic As This Kid
on Mar 28, 2019
America’s long-loved anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner” was played last week in the Mississippi State Capitol by young, talented violinist, John Uzodinma. The rising star was opening the proceedings of the Mississippi House of Representatives meeting when State Representative Missy McGee pulled out her phone and started filming him.
The Patriotic Performance
Everyone turned towards the flag, their hands on their hearts and listened as John, a Southern Miss graduate, played. It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop because everyone was so tuned in. He flawlessly played the song from start to finish and received a big round of applause, screams from the audience and a standing ovation. Missy then posted the video on Facebook and it quickly started going viral, reaching over 235,000 views.
Missy wrote in her post,“What a great way to start the day! John Uzodinma, a violinist who is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, opened today’s proceedings of the Mississippi House of Representatives with our National Anthem. Do yourself a favor and listen! It will make you so proud to be an American!”
After Missy posted the video it wasn’t long before major news networks like FOX NEWS shared it on their platform. Putting it in front of even more people, receiving another 2.5 million views. Other networks did the same thing and it’s been nothing but positive feedback from everyone.
John Uzodinma’s Story
John started playing the violin at eight years old and says he remembers when he first asked his parents for a violin. They were shocked and surprised he even had the idea because they were not musicians themselves. However, they got him a cheap violin and he started playing. Since then John says they’ve purchased him 15 other violins and he’s now gone on to graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi with a violin performance major.
All his schooling has paid off because he’s now getting noticed around the world all the while following his greatest passion to play the violin.
With that talent, he’ll definitely go far. We wish him all the best!
