Patsy Lynn Reflects On 1st Birthday Since Loretta’s Death

Loretta Lynn’s Twin Daughters Peggy & Patsy Lynn Celebrate 59th Birthday – Their First Since Loretta Died In October 2022

Peggy and Patsy Lynn, Loretta Lynn‘s twin daughters, celebrated their 59th birthday on Sunday (August 6). It was their first birthday since Loretta passed away on October 4, 2022 at the age of 90.

Patsy worked closely with her mother in the later years of her life. She and John Carter Cash co-produced her final albums, including Full Circle, Wouldn’t It Be Great, and Still Woman Enough.

As Patsy woke up on her birthday this year, she found herself missing the sound of Loretta’s voice. She’d always sing to her and Peggy on their birthday:

“Our first Birthday without a call from our momma singing Happy Birthday to Peggy and I,” Patsy wrote in a reflective post on social media. “Woke kinda sad knowing that. It’s always the little things we miss the most. I am so thankful to have those memories. Grateful to have been born with a built in bestie [in Peggy] ! Best we can do today ..”

Loretta Lynn Once Shared What It Was Like To Welcome Twin Daughters

Peggy and Patsy Lynn are the youngest of Loretta’s six children with her husband Oliver “Doolittle” Lynn. Patsy was named in honor of Loretta’s dear friend, Patsy Cline, who died in a plane crash the year before the twins were born.

On the girls’ birthday in 2022, Loretta wrote about what it was like for her to welcome twin daughters. She said it came as a complete surprise she was having twins:

“I remember it like yesterday. I didn’t have a clue I was pregnant with twins. Can you believe that?…Peggy Jean arrived first and [the doctor] said to me, ‘It’s a beautiful girl, but it looks like there’s another.’ I said, ‘Another what!?’ I just couldn’t imagine having twins and taking care of two babies. When he said there was another one to deliver, in exhaustion I said, ‘I can’t. Leave it in there!’ Well, my little Patsy Eileen soon appeared healthy as a horse. They were beautiful and I was in shock!“

What Are Peggy & Patsy Lynn Doing Today?

Peggy and Patsy followed in their mama’s musical footsteps and became a duo called The Lynns. They charted two singles and earned some award nominations before they decided to step away from the stage.

Patsy went on to become a producer and songwriter, and Peggy is a farmer. They both have children of their own, and it made Loretta proud to see them flourish as mothers.

“They’re both amazing mommas with the best kids ever,” she wrote. “I guess I’m more proud of the mommas they are and how fiercely they love their own kids than anything.”

She ended her message by saying, “It turned out in this case that two really are better than one.”
