More than 15 different tornadoes ravaged six different states on Monday, May 20th, 2019 after a powerful storm system moved across Middle America – one so powerful, in fact, that two million people in Oklahoma and Texas alone were under serious advisory.
At the time the storm began surging across the US, expert Roger Edwards expressed his deep-seated fears for the people in its path: “…this is the rare kind of event that may take many lives. Pray I’m wrong.”
Leaving shift this morning, scientific prediction done, a sobering, brutally honest realization hits: even if outlooks, watches & warnings are great, that doesn’t stop the #tornado swarm & destruction. This is the rare kind of event that may take many lives. Pray I’m wrong.

Luckily, as of yet there have been no deaths reported, but at least one person was injured when a tornado touched down just outside of Tulsa International Airport on Tuesday morning. It flung a tree into a man’s home, trapping him inside. The extent of his injuries are unknown, but he is currently being treated.

Time Magazine also reports seven other people were injured after storms ravaged Lucas Oil Speedway in Hickory County, Missouri and several were taken to local hospitals to be evaluated. The speedway itself sustained major damage and the brand new grandstands were leveled by the storm – which forced the cancellation of this weekend’s upcoming races.

Many people and news stations have taken to social media to share photos of the storms and their aftermath, but one video really puts all others to shame – because it was taken just a hundred yards from a massive twister as a person watched it completely demolish an Oklahoma farmstead.

In a video posted to Facebook by WCPO – 9 On Your Side from a 2016 batch of storms, you can hear the roaring wind from a massive tornado just a few pastures away. And each second passes as it sweeps closer to the farmhouse, sucking every bit of debris it can into a massive swirling funnel of doom.
You can literally see pieces of trees, buildings, rocks, and fence posts being ripped from the ground and sucked up into this huge tornado.
As it rages across the farmstead, the camera pulls back and you can see huge pieces of debris flying through the air hundreds of feet up into the sky. In just a 34-second video, this twister has caused insane amounts of devastation, ripped giant trees from the ground, and utterly destroyed one family’s farm.

Our hearts go out to all affected by these scary and dangerous storms.
