Randall King Reflects On His Five-Month Break From Music: “I’m Grateful That God Turned It All Around”

Randall King Takes A Step Back From Music
Back in March, country singer Randall King canceled several upcoming tour dates as he stepped away from the stage to focus on his personal well-being, telling fans he was seeking professional help.
In a statement shared at the time, King said he has taken “a hard look” at his life and recognized the need for meaningful change. King acknowledged that ongoing struggles have impacted both himself and those closest to him.
“My faith comes first and right now I don’t feel right stepping on stage without the confidence that I’m living as the man God has called me to be,” King explained on social media.
King, known for his traditional honky-tonk sound and growing presence in country music, said stepping away was not an easy decision. Touring has been a central part of his life for years, but he emphasized that prioritizing his health is necessary before returning to the stage.
“I believe God gave me the gift of music to impact lives and do His will and He will guide me on the path to healing. But I have to let go, surrender, face the problems, and accept the help of people who better understand what I’m going through,” he continued.
He eventually returned to the stage in August, choosing the Grand Ole Opry as his first venue back.
During a recent appearance in Greenville, Texas, King opened up about his time away from the stage and the perspective he gained during that period.
“I went absent for about five months, cancelled my tour, put myself into rehab. I’m six and a half months sober. But the most important thing to me is that I got my faith back. I got my family back,” King shared. “I think it’s alright to say you’re not okay. Don’t ever be afraid to tell somebody that you’re not okay or get help, ’cause it happens to all of us.”
He admitted that distractions and his own priorities had caused him to lose sight of what truly mattered. After putting his career and himself ahead of everything else, he said he had to put his ego in check.
“I’m just grateful to be here. I’m grateful that God turned it all around, and that music’s still a part of my life, because I think music is the most powerful tool in the world besides prayer. If my music’s meant anything to you over the years, and it’s touched your life in a way that’s changed some things for you, that means everything — because that’s what it’s here for,” he continued.
King has resumed his headlining shows while also joining Luke Bryan for several dates on his Word On The Street Tour. Fans hoping to catch the country singer live will have plenty of chances, with shows scheduled through Dec. 12, when he’ll wrap up the year in El Paso, Texas.
