“Rare” 5-Legged Lamb With 6 Feet Found On Australia Farm
on Sep 02, 2020
Marshall Bowey, a farmer from Kojonup, Western Australia was tailing week old lambs on his farm when he was surprised to find a lamb that had five legs and six feet.
“We were tailing lambs and realized one had five legs and six feet,” Marshall told ABC AU. “I’ve come across lambs with little growths of wool on their backs or legs, but never seen a fifth leg, let alone with six feet.”

Four of the lamb’s legs were in the typical spots but the fifth leg was coming from behind the lamb’s head/neck/shoulder area and had two feet attached to it. Marshall said it was funny to watch him run because he would try to use that leg.
“I’ve got no idea what would cause something like this. When it was running along it would throw its head down and try to use the fifth leg as it trotted along,” he said.

According to Dr. Shane Besier, a senior veterinary pathologist from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, he said the extra limb is most likely a random birth defect.
