While Dean Martin is most often heralded for his singing prowess, he also had his time to shine on both the big and small screens. He was known as a member of the legendary Rat Pack alongside Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford, among others.

The Rat Pack starred in movies, went on tour, and were legends in just about every form of entertainment in the 50s and 60s. Before that, Martin was known as one-half of the duo Martin & Lewis with comedian Jerry Lewis.

Some may forget, but Martin also starred in several Western films alongside John Wayne, one being Rio Bravo. In the movie, which was released in 1959, Martin played the role of a former deputy named Dude trying to keep a gang-connected, felon rancher under lock and key. Wayne played John T. Chance, the sheriff.

Martin was even able to showcase his singing chops in the movie.

In 1965, John Wayne and Dean Martin teamed up once again for the film The Sons of Katie Elder. The two played thick-as-thieves brothers who worked together to solve a family murder mystery.

In 1968, Martin and Jimmy Stewart played brothers in Bandolero! The two’s antics played out onscreen alongside legend Raquel Welch, who played a kidnapped damsel in distress.

Martin went on to star in a few more Westerns including 5 Card Stud, Something Big, and Showdown.
