Riley Green Needed 5 Stitches After A Cell Phone Was Thrown At Him
Riley Green is currently on the Australian leg of his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, playing a few shows in both Sydney and Melbourne.
At one of his Melbourne dates near the end of his set, a so-called fan threw their cell phone at him and struck him in the side of his face. Green paused for a second to take his guitar off before addressing the person who threw it.
With blood dripping down the side of his neck, he had the crew turn the house lights all the way up and figured out who chucked the phone at him.
“This one right here? Get his fat a** out of here. Go on,” he said to security.
Once the person was escorted out, Green finished his set. Watch the moment below.
In an update shortly after the incident, Green revealed he needed five stitches.

He had a good mentality afterwards, even posting a hilarious meme to his Instagram Stories, joking that he will be giving out cell phone leashes at the door for the next show.

Green also shared a series of photos from the evening, writing, “Ole buddy bout ran outta anytime minutes last night… but a hell of a time was had,” along with a hashtag “Just Text Me Next Time.”
Riley Green Sits Down For Interview In Australia
While chatting with Today Show Australia, Green was opening up about the fun he’s had in the country and even discussed a little rugby.
One of the hosts brought up the cell phone incident, saying, “You did have a bit of an altercation, I can see the stitches.”
He responded, “I did, yea. I didn’t get my ear pierced. That was a cell phone at a show the other day.”
The other host asked what was going on when the phone was thrown, and Green joked, “I wasn’t quick enough I guess.”
Both hosts agreed what happened was terrible and Green expressed that in the 12-15 years he’s been touring (doing over 100 shows per year), something like this had never happened before.
Sure, people have thrown things at him on stage, but they are usually bras or underwear!
