Marshals Marks Kayce Dutton’s Next Chapter
Since its premiere on March 1st, fans have been loving the newest Yellowstone spin-off centered solely on Kayce Dutton. Marshals follows John Dutton’s son as he takes a decisive turn in his life, joining an elite team of U.S. Marshals.
Actor Luke Grimes returned to the role as Kayce as well as Broken Rock chairman Thomas Rainwater (played by Gil Birmingham). The spin-off also welcomed a new cast-member, Logan Marshall-Green, who will play Pete “Cal” Calvin, a close friend from Kayce’s military past.
The show’s early episodes were such a hit that it’s already been renewed for a second season!
Riley Green Makes His Acting Debut
Longtime viewers are of course seeing a few familiar faces since the show is a follow-up, but it also introduces many brand-new characters as well.
One character, in particular, had fans eagerly waiting. When the first trailer for season one dropped, sharp-eyed viewers caught a fleeting moment that many might have missed, a quick glimpse of none other than Riley Green.
That split-second appearance was enough to spark major buzz, with fans speculating about the country singer’s potential role in the western drama. While it hinted at an acting debut, CBS stayed silent on the matter at the time. It wasn’t until late February that the network finally confirmed he would be part of the series.
It was Riley’s first acting role, and it’s a pretty big one to land without prior experience. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the show’s premiere, the singer shared that he was introduced to the opportunity by his longtime friend and the show’s star, Luke Grimes.
The two are friends in real life and have even worked together before, since Luke is also a country singer. When Riley mentioned his interest in acting, Luke helped connect him with an audition, and from there, everything moved fast.

Riley Green Opens Up About His Time On Marshals
On April 19, Riley officially made his acting debut on the new hit series. His character, Garrett, was a past Navy SEAL teammate of Kayce Dutton battling severed PTSD.
Just three weeks later, in the May 10 episode, Garrett was killed off the show. Now, Riley is opening up about what the entire experience meant to him.
The country star said he “really enjoyed” meeting everyone on the show and seeing all the work that goes on behind-the-scenes in production. He also reflected on Garrett’s journey, saying he was a changed person throughout his time with the U.S. Marshals.
“My first time on a real set like that,” Riley shared. “It was an awesome experience.”
Riley admitted to ExtraTV that he would even be interested in continuing to act in the future.
“I would really enjoy being able to go and get on set and kind of get into that world and stay there. And just be an actor for a little while. I think that’d be something I’d really enjoy,” he said.
