Country Duo Ryan And Rory Enlist The Legendary Jamey Johnson For “Together Again,” A Collaboration That’s Been Decades In The Making

Decades ago, three songwriters put pen to paper and wrote a tune titled “Together Again.” The track had a brief hold from Alan Jackson before it disappeared, never seeing the light of day…until now.

Enter Ryan and Rory, a country duo with abundant talent and an enthusiastic fan base.

Ryan Follesé is an American Music Award winner and a 2x Platinum-selling songwriter who previously fronted the pop band Hot Chelle Rae. His duo partner, Rory John Zak, is well-respected as a powerhouse vocalist and skilled musician.

Ryan and Rory first gained traction with their song “Pour Decisions,” leading to the launch of their first EP. They’ve since found success with acclaimed songs such as “This Town,” “What’s Mine Is Yours,” and “Truck Stop.”

The duo made their Grand Ole Opry debut in December 2024. They’ve also toured with prominent names such as Brett Young and Sam Hunt, as well as Jamey Johnson, who shares a longstanding connection to Ryan Follesé.

The three songwriters who penned the long-lost song “Together Again” were Jamey Johnson, WSIX-FM radio personality Gerry House, and Ryan Follesé’s father, Keith Follesé.

A Cross-Generational Collaboration Comes To Life

Ryan and Rory’s Ryan Follesé recalls hearing “Together Again” for the first time as a teenager, as his dad and Jamey Johnson played the song around their family’s kitchen table.

It was one of those songs that just stopped me in my tracks,” Ryan says. “It was pure country with a storyline that hit different.

Drawing inspiration from The Wizard of Oz, “Together Again” tells a tale of everlasting love in a timeless country fashion. The ballad features rich harmonies, mesmerizing lyrics, and a soulful sound.

While “Together Again” was temporarily lost to time, Ryan never forgot about it. A conversation with Sony Music Publishing’s Tom Luteran led to the song’s revival, with Jamey Johnson agreeing to sign on immediately. As he told his former songwriting partner, Keith Follesé, “I’ll do anything for your boy.”

Ryan and Rory recorded “Together Again” with Jamey in January 2024. Dann Huff produced the song, marking the first time he’d worked with Jamey.

“They say Nashville is a storyteller town—and this one hits close to home,” Ryan Follesé says about his connection to “Together Again.” “It’s about legacy, timing, and how a song can come full circle when the time is right.”

As proof of the mantra that “good things take time,” after decades in hiding, “Together Again” is finally available for the world to enjoy.
