Selena Gomez Cast To Play Linda Ronstadt In Upcoming Biopic

It has officially been confirmed that actress and singer Selena Gomez has been cast to portray the iconic Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic.

The film, currently in pre-production, Rolling Stones reports, will supposedly draw inspiration from Ronstadt’s memoir, “Simple Dreams,” offering a glimpse into the extraordinary life of the legendary singer.

What We Know So Far

Renowned producers, including John Boylan, who served as Ronstadt’s manger, and James Keach, the creative force behind the 2019 documentary “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” will be spearheading the upcoming biopic.

Linda Ronstadt, a trailblazer in country, rock, and latin music, solidified her place in music history with albums such as Heart Like a Wheel and Simple Dreams during the 1970s.

The legendary singer has reached incredible heights throughout her career, including 11 Grammy Awards and Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the Recording Academy and the Latin Recording Academy, Variety reports. In 2011, she declared her retirement and soon disclosed that her inability to sing stemmed from a degenerative condition initially thought to be Parkinson’s disease. However, it was later identified as progressive supranuclear palsy.

While no other casting details for the project have been unveiled, the involvement of industry professionals who have had close ties with Ronstadt ensures a cinematic tribute that honors the legacy she has made.
