Decked out in black attire and fitted with golden accents, the son of two legendary country singers – and a mighty force in the music industry himself – Shooter Jennings unleashed this boot-stomping rockabilly tune on prime time TV.

Appearing on Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show, Jennings brought out one of his hottest tracks off of his album titled simply Shooter.

The song is part of a project that Jennings says is a “left turn” straight into a country record – and much of it pulls the pure 80s country music stylings in and even dabbles in much-earlier rockabilly with a tinge of soul and jazz – something reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis.

“Bound Ta Git Down” is an autobiographical song that paints a picture of Jennings’ own travels through the world of music – as the son of a legendary pair: Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter.

The track is a boot-stomping tune that thunders through the crowd and marks the opening of his album as the very first song folks will hear.

In the lyrics is the story of Jennings’ career from California to Nashville – making the move from various genres into flat-out country music.

“Yeah, ’cause I wanna get down/ Down like a basset hound/ Down to the honky tonk town/ Bum this juke joint down/ Make Hank proud/ Get drunk/ Get loud,” he sings.
