In August, Spencer Hatcher’s Mother Was Killed During A Home Invasion
Country singer Spencer Hatcher is speaking out for the first time to thank his fans for their support after the tragic killing of his mother.
On August 3, Spencer’s mom, Holly Hatcher, was brutally stabbed to death in her Harrisonburg, Virginia, home during a break-in.
The suspect was later identified as 41-year-old Kevin Moses Walker. When law enforcement arrived at the Hatcher residence, they found Walker dead in the driveway.
Spencer’s father, Michael, had shot and killed the intruder in an effort to protect his wife and stop the attack.
As the investigation continued, authorities determined there was no clear motive behind the invasion. It was also confirmed that the suspect and the Hatchers did not know each other.
“This is a highly unusual, apparently completely random [attack] with an individual with no known history of violent behavior of any kind, or even criminal behavior of any kind,” Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said in a statement following the incident.
Spencer Hatcher Speaks Out For The First Time Following His Mom’s Murder
Six weeks after his mother’s tragic death, Spencer Hatcher broke his silence in a video posted to his social media.
In it, the 28-year-old thanked his fans for the love and support that had been sent his way during this unimaginable time for him and his family.
“I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the love and support that you all have shown me and my family over the last month,” he began.
“In what has really been the worst time of our life, you all sent so many loving comments and messages and made posts and everything,” he continued. “We did our best to read them, but I just want you all to know how appreciative we are and I am of you all.”
Spencer went on to share that after giving it a lot of thought and prayer, he’s decided to keep making music, because he knows that’s what his mother would have wanted.
“She loved the music. She loved everything about it. She loved the music, she loved the shows…She would want me to keep on, and I know how much she loved it, and I know how much y’all love it.”
“I’m not gonna quit. I’m gonna keep on going and go as hard as I possibly can like I always have. I want you all to come along on this journey with me as I get back into it,” he added. “I just appreciate you all and everything that you all have done for me and will continue to do for me.”
Spencer is also ready to step back on stage. He has several shows scheduled for the remainder of the year, according to his website.
“I hope that one day we can all be together where I can thank you in person. I love y’all, God bless,” he concluded his message.
