Following a car fire that claimed a woman’s vehicle but spared her Stanley tumbler, the company took action and surprised her with a huge present.

In a viral video surpassing 82 million views, Danielle Lettering revealed the wreckage of her car, unmistakably demolished after a tragic fire. Yet, her Stanley cup remained intact in its cup holder.

“Everybody’s so concerned about if the Stanley spills,” Lettering says in the 14-second video she posted to TikTok on Nov. 15. “It was in a fire yesterday and it still has ice in it.”

Thousands of TikTok users chimed in, offering their take on the video.

“Stanley better cut you a check after this advertisement.”

“Now this is good marketing for Stanley.”

“This is the only advertising the Stanley needs.”

Stanley‘s CEO, Terence Reilly, noticed the TikTok and went beyond simply replacing Lettering’s Stanley cup. Instead, he offered her a new car.

So, how did Stanley respond to the video?

In a TikTok video that was stitched from Lettering’s initial video, Reilly commented on the incident, revealing Stanley’s surprise for her.

“Wow. What an ordeal. And we’re all really glad you’re safe,” he said. “Thanks for sharing the video. It really shows how our Stanleys are built for life…I couldn’t think of a better example of our product’s quality.”

Reilly noted numerous comments suggesting the company send Lettering some Stanley products.

“Well, we’re going to send you some Stanleys,” he said. “But there is one more thing. We have never done this before and we will probably never do it again, but we’d love to replace your vehicle.”

Reilly told Lettering that she should check her direct messages for more details.

How did Lettering take the news?

Lettering was amazed that the company would go as far as offering to purchase her a car. In another TikTok, she shared that she was close to passing out after watching Stanley’s response video.

“That is crazy. I cannot believe they’re going to buy me a car. I mean, the Stanley was the only thing that survived in the car fire.”

She informed her viewers that she hadn’t been using the cup for drinking but playfully suggested keeping it as a memento with the engraving: “Survived the fire of 2023.”

“I’m so so grateful to Stanley for doing this and I feel blessed beyond belief,” she said. “Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I know everybody says that, but it hasn’t.”

She continued by thanking the viewers who commented on her TikTok, praising them for making it happen.

“You put the idea in their head and then you pounded it in there. Thank you to you for taking time out of your day to write on a stranger’s TikTok in support of getting me a new vehicle. I just can’t believe it. I can’t believe that thousands of people would show up for me like that.”

Shortly after the first two video had gone viral, Lettering received a package from Stanley that she opened up with her best friend.
