Robert Irwin just shared a heartwarming video of his late father, Steve Irwin, that could bring every fan to tears.

For Robert’s 17th birthday, the Australia Zoo made a touching montage of Robert and his late dad. The video featured a speech from Steve, and the famous Crocodile Hunter revealed that his biggest wish was for Robert and his sister Bindi to take over his legacy.

“When they’re ready to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside. Then and only then will I know that I have achieved my ultimate goal and my job will be done, and I guarantee you it will be the proudest moment of my life.” Steve’s voice echoed in the video.

In the montage, the zoo highlighted touching moments between a very young Robert and his late father. Eventually, the video transitioned to Robert’s teenage years, and there is no doubt that Steve would be proud of Robert’s accomplishments. Robert and his sister, Bindi, have genuinely stepped into their father’s footsteps. Currently, Robert works closely with his family zoo, and he is also a wildlife photographer.

“Our lovely Australia Zoo crew made this beautiful video to celebrate my birthday, and it means the world to me,” Robert wrote in his Instagram caption. “I am beyond honoured to continue my dad’s legacy and I hope more than anything that he would be proud.”

Steve Irwin died in 2006 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray, but his family and friends continue to keep his legacy alive.

Let Robert take you on a tour of Australia Zoo in the video below.
