Taylor Hicks Apologizes With An Impromptu Performance
Taylor Hicks managed to turn an apology into a musical moment.
On Thursday, April 29, the American Idol alum took part in the Regions Tradition golf tournament in Alabama.
But, at one point during the day, when he stepped up to swing, Hicks accidentally sent a ball into the crowd, striking a woman. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured, but still, he knew he needed to apologize.
So, that’s exactly what he did… except in his own unique way. Instead of a typical “I’m sorry,” Hicks pulled out a harmonica and began singing to her.
Not many people can say they’ve been serenaded by a former American Idol winner!
The interaction was caught on video by someone in the crowd and quickly made its way across the internet. In the clip, Hicks can be seen playfully singing “I’m so sorry about hitting you with my golf ball” while managing a quick melody on the harmonica.
In the end, there were no hard feelings. The woman later commented on the video shared to Facebook, praising how kind Hicks was the whole time.
She also revealed that he signed the harmonica and gave it to her!
“It was totally worth the welt/bruise!” she wrote in the video’s comment section. “What a nice guy. He even autographed the harmonica and gave it to me! Made my day!”
Taylor Hicks Will Make His Grand Return To American Idol, 20 Years After He Won
Taylor Hicks got his big break after winning Season 5 of American Idol. Now, he and other Class of 2006 contestants are set to return to the singing competition.
On a recent episode of the American Idol podcast, host Danielle Fishel revealed the exciting news.
Kellie Pickler, Taylor Hicks, Paris Bennett, Elliot Yamon, and Bucky Covington will all come back to join Season 24’s Top 5 as duet partners.
That’s not all Idol has planned, though. Two of the show’s original judges, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, will also be there.
They’ll serve as guest mentors for the remaining contestants, and Abdul will even return to the judges’ panel alongside Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan.
The special two-hour episode is set to air on May 4, and by the end of the night, the competition will be narrowed down to the Top 3 singers.
