The Kelly Clarkson Show Announces Premiere Date For Season 5, Its First Season In New York City

At last, we know when Kelly Clarkson‘s namesake talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show is returning with season 5!

The show announced Season 5 will premiere on Monday, October 16. That’s so soon!

Beyond being a new season, The Kelly Clarkson Show also has a new home…New York City. Earlier this year, the show announced its plans to move from Los Angeles to a new studio in “The Big Apple.”

According to Variety, the show will film in Studio 6A in 30 Rock. The studio previously housed Late Night with David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, and Jimmy Fallon.

“I’m so excited to start our fifth season at the iconic 30 Rock,” Clarkson said. “There is such a unique energy and creative spirit that comes with filming in New York City. Y’all ready?”

Variety also reports that The Kelly Clarkson Show will begin filming new episodes on October 10. Its studio is described as being “state-of-the-art” with “a relaxed and intimate vibe.”

The set will have a “prominent platform” for Clarkson’s house band. 200 seats will be available for audience members who attend the tapings.

The Kelly Clarkson Show previously hosted its Season 3 and Season 4 premiere weeks in NYC.

The Return Of The Kelly Clarkson Show Comes At The End Of The WGA Strike

The Kelly Clarkson Show is covered by the WGA. The writers union went on strike on May 2, bringing the production on hundreds of shows and films to a halt.

Clarkson’s show was impacted by the strike, and production on Season 4 shut down in May. Some pre-filmed episodes were able to air after the strike started. The show naturally planned to go on a summer hiatus before returning with Season 5.

The WGA strike ended on September 27, allowing The Kelly Clarkson Show to resume production.

However, the SAG-AFTRA strike (concerning actors) is still ongoing. Daytime talk shows are covered by different contracts, so they can continue without violating the strike.

But, actors Clarkson has as guests on her show will not be allowed to discuss or promote any of their struck projects. Variety mentions how many actors and writers may simply choose not to appear on daytime talk shows like The Kelly Clarkson Show with the strike occurring.
