Located in Lafayette, Louisiana at the Oil Center on Pinhook Road is the last remaining Popeyes restaurant with a buffet in it and according to rumors, it may be closing down for good.

Acadiana’s hottest music station Hot 107.9 said that they spoke with an employee who works at the restaurant, and they said the restaurant will remain open serving their regular menu but the buffet will not be open once indoor dining opens back up to the public.

The buffet offered fried chicken, biscuits, and numerous side items and was an all-you-can-eat buffet. For just over $10 you could stuff yourself as full off whatever you liked that the fast-food chain offered.

When the station reached out to speak with the manager of Popeyes, they also said that it was highly unlikely that the buffet would be returning.

When the station spoke with another worker they confirmed the same thing and were very certain it would not be coming back.

The reason it was initially shut down was due to the pandemic and it has been shut down ever since.

Now with the removal of a green banner sign on the marquee that advertised the buffet option and the establishment being under new management, it appears the buffet is gone but even so, Popeyes says they have not made a final decision on it yet.

“The buffet has been closed due to covid restrictions and the restaurant has not yet made a decision as to whether or not they will reopen the buffet,” said Mollie Birer, a spokesperson for the restaurant chain said in an email to Hot 107.9.
