Teen Shocks ‘The Voice’ Coaches With Impressive Low Note While Singing “Friends In Low Places”

If you’ve been tuning in to Season 30 of The Voice, then you know there’s been no shortage of country singers taking the stage and hoping to impress all four coaches.
During the Blind Auditions, some contestants took on newer country songs, while others put their own spin on some of the genre’s biggest hits.
One singer who went that route was 19-year-old Brayden Howell, who sang Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places.”
Brooks released “Friends in Low Places” in 1990 as the lead single from his album No Fences. The song spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and went on to win both an ACM Award and a CMA Award for Single of the Year.

As soon as the spotlight was on Brayden, you could tell he had an appreciation for traditional country music that you don’t always see from teenagers these days.
His deep voice had that old-school country sound, but his look also stood out. He had a nearly shoulder-length mullet and wore a red button-up shirt, a leather fringe vest, black pants, and cowboy boots.
The coaches were visibly impressed and even sang along with Brayden as he performed. It was a tough situation, though, because at this point in the competition, there was no way he could get a four-chair turn.
Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah’s teams were already full, so only Riley Green and Adam Levine had spots available for Brayden.
Whose Team Did Brayden Howell Join On “The Voice”?
At first, it didn’t look like Brayden was going to get a chair turn. He was already halfway through the song, and none of the coaches had pressed their buttons.
But as soon as he hit the lowest note of the song, Green took the chance and pressed his red button to turn around.
Clarkson was the first to give feedback to Brayden, saying:
“That’s some big ole boots you’re steppin’ in with Garth Brooks.”
She went on to say that Brayden did a “good job” with the song, especially considering it was a “tall order” of a song choice.
Queen Latifah then added that if her team hadn’t already been full, she would’ve turned for Brayden.
Green then tried to get to know his new team member a little better, asking Brayden about his influences. As far as style goes, Brayden gets inspiration from Elvis Presley, while his music idol is Randy Travis.
“Brayden came out and it sounded like I was in a Honky Tonk when I closed my eyes,” Green said backstage. “It was a no-brainer for me to fill my team.”
It’s just the beginning of his journey in the competition, but Brayden’s already gaining quite the fanbase. The Voice shared his audition on social media, and many viewers took to the comment section to praise him for his performance. Some of those messages include:
“Love this young guy, so natural and has a great voice! Love his fashion, so retro!!! Hope he will go very far! Good luck!”
“challenging song but he nailed those lows”
“Beautiful voice- great timbre, love those bass notes! He’s got lots of friends now in many places!”
