The Voice Season 11 winner, Sundance Head, has been hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound at his Texas ranch.

TMZ was the first to report the news. Head’s agent, Trey Newman, told the outlet that the singer was hunting on his rural Texas ranch when he was shot Friday (November 15). He was stabilized by paramedics and airlifted to a Tyler, Texas, hospital.

Sundance’s wife, Misty, told Newman that her husband suffered a gunshot to the stomach and that the bullet missed all of his vital organs and lodged in a fatty area, according to TMZ.

In an update posted to his Facebook page, Misty wrote that the singer accidentally shot himself with a .22 and was not the one who placed the call for help.

“He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off. Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging,” Misty wrote, “I thought he called 911 he didn’t- he put his hands in pocket for phone immediately after getting hit but phone wasn’t there just filled with blood so he took off down the driveway out to the main road to flag a car down for help. 10 cars later someone turned around to help and called 911.”

The most recent update states that Sundance is “in good spirits” and no internal damage was done.”
