Team Reba Contestants Face Off In Battle Rounds

It’s week one of The Voice battle rounds, and Jordan Rainer and Jackson Snelling, two members of Team Reba, went head to head with a passionate duet of “The Heart Won’t Lie.” The song was originally recorded by Reba McEntire herself along with Vince Gill in 1993.

If singing her own song in front of the queen of country music was nerve-wracking, you wouldn’t be able to tell, as both contestants performed with poise and harmonized together beautifully. They received a standing ovation from all four coaches.

Jordan Rainer Got “Fancy” With Her Blind Audition

This was not Jordan Rainer’s first time performing one of Reba’s songs – she took the Voice stage for the very first time with a performance of “Fancy,” one of Reba’s best-known hits. Rainer exuded confidence during her audition and earned herself a four-chair turn.

Even though all four coaches tried to convince Rainer to join their team, it really was no surprise when she chose fellow Oklahoma-native Reba McEntire as her coach, adding that she was a “huge fan” of Reba’s music.

Reba and Gwen Fought Over Jackson Snelling During Blind Auditions

Jackson Snelling auditioned with Justin Moore’s poignant song “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away.” The emotion in his voice perfectly portrayed the feeling of longing to see a loved one who has passed on. The performance earned chair turns from both Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani who proceeded to try to outdo one another and win Snelling’s favor.

Ultimately, Snelling chose to join team Reba. The aspiring singer also revealed that he has autism and that music has really helped him navigate life on the spectrum.

And The Battle Victory Goes To…

Choosing the winner of the battle surely was no easy task and the coaches attempted to help Reba by sharing their thoughts on the performance and who they feel should move forward. Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani both shared that they would like to see more from Jordan Rainer while John Legend cast his vote for Jackson Snelling.

In the end, Reba had to make a final decision of who moves forward and who goes home:

“The winner of this battle… is Jordan.”
