Thomas Rhett And Lauren Akins Started Building Their Family in 2012
Country singer Thomas Rhett married his longtime love, Lauren Gregory, on October 12, 2012. The pair first met in first grade and went to the same elementary school, but didn’t get to know each other until sixth grade camp.
Rhett told British GQ in 2019, ” “Even though the feeling was not reciprocated in the sixth grade, I already knew I was in love with her. I know that sounds unbelievable, but it’s true.”
They became close in high school and even briefly dated! Although their relationship was over, Thomas was still in love and after high school ended, they dated for six months until December 2011 when Thomas proposed.
They were married on October 12, 2012, followed by a honeymoon in Hawaii.
After their wedding, they began trying to have children, but to no avail. God put it on their heart to adopt a girl Lauren met during her travels to Uganda. Once they did and things were finalized, they found out they were expecting themselves!
In February 2017, Willa Gray finally joined their family and just six months later, Aga James was born.
In July 2019, the family announced they were expecting their third child, and another daughter!
Lennon Love was born on February 10, 2020 and they welcome Lillie Carolina on November 15, 2021!
Following the birth of their fourth daughter, Rhett said they were going to take a pause from welcoming children, and might consider adoption again in the future. But, looks like the pause is over!
Thomas Rhett And His Wife, Lauren Akins, Announce She Is Pregnant With Baby #5
On Tuesday (August 26), Thomas Rhett and his wife of nearly 13 years, Lauren Akins, made a life-changing announcement: she is pregnant!
They shared the exciting news in a video on Instagram. The video began with a close up of Lauren fixing the camera and asked her husband, “You ready, honey?”
As she walked away, Thomas Rhett began strumming his guitar and singing lyrics from his 2017 song “Life Changes,” where he sings about his and Lauren’s life not going the way they planned, but in the best way possible.
“Well I was wrapping my head around bein’ a dad, a big wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had,” he sang with Lauren by his side.
Lauren began rubbing her belly when he sang, “Now Lauren’s showing, got one on the way, that’s….five under 10, hey what can I say?”
At this moment, she whipped out ultrasound photos to confirm that they were expecting their fifth child!
“Here we go again! We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good,” Rhett captioned the announcement video.
Big sisters include Willa Gray (9), Ada James (8), Lennon Love (5), and Lillie Carolina (3).
