Thomas Rhett’s Sister-In-Law Receives Heartbreaking Cancer Diagnosis
Back in February, Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren, shared that her sister Macy had sadly been diagnosed with breast cancer. The timing was very bittersweet for their family as Lauren was expected to give birth at any time.
“Carrying so much joy and anticipation as well as carrying a lot of heavy and sadness in this season. It feels so hard and unnatural and sometimes wrong to feel both but these are my days right now,” Lauren captioned the post.
She included a carousel of images, alternating photos of her with her children and then with her sister.
“So grateful for another little life growing in our family and also heartbroken that my little sister is walking through a valley that feels so hard. It’s okay to feel both. I know our Father can handle any emotion (or hormone) I throw at Him,” she continued.
Lauren shared how her faith has carried her through this time, and thanked her community for rallying around their family during the unimaginable.
“I am so grateful that Jesus has been so near. So near to our family and community supporting Macy and even more near I think to Macy-she is truly letting the Lord fight for her (Exodus 14:14) and He has given her such strength and bravery and her faith has grown tremendously 💛 We can feel Him sustaining us all and we are believing He will be glorified in it all-on the mountain tops and in the valleys 🤍🤍,” Lauren wrote.
She then explained that her sister recently began chemotherapy, and is thankfully doing well. Lauren then talked about their precious baby coming soon, and the bond the sweet little one will share with her sister.
“…we cannot wait to kiss the sweet face of this baby boy or girl 😍🥰 and I can’t wait for my sister to hold this sweet little babe and love on him or her in a way that only she can 🥰😭🩵🩷”
Macy Shares An Update On Her Cancer Journey
Over the weekend, Macy posted an update as she shared moments from her last day of chemotherapy.
“I’m officially D O N E with chemo!!!!! 🥳 those words feel so surreal to say. I know the road ahead is long with surgery & more than likely radiation, but I have so much peace knowing the Lord has gone before me. And I’m not gonna lie, this portion felt huge. The biggest physical hurdle complete. 16 rounds of chemotherapy over 24 weeks, never once delayed by the grace of God all because Jesus (along with my family & friends) literally carried me through 😭,” Macy wrote.
Macy said in the end, she is ultimately “grateful” for the experience as it has forced her to heavily rely on God for strength.
“Cancer has completely changed me and has forced me to rely on God with every ounce of my being. I FEEL the Holy Spirit tangibly and it’s a feeling I just can’t describe, and one I want EVERYONE to experience,” she wrote.
