Cabin fever is at an all-time high, and there’s no cure like getting out into the wilderness.

Speaking of the wilderness…The Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster in North Carolina offers thrill-seekers an exciting way to get a serious breath of fresh air while flying through the forest of the town of Banner Elk!

Reaching speeds of up to 27 miles per hour, the Alpine Coaster operates with individual cars. The speed of each car is completely controlled by the rider, allowing for either a leisurely ride through the forest or a fast trip between the trees.

The coaster operates in rain and snow (but may shut down in the event that dangerous road conditions stop employees from being able to man the ride.) Adults need to ride on their own, but kids under the age of 14 need to ride with an adult. Kids riding with an adult driver must be at least 38 inches tall. Each car can hold up to 375 pounds, and riders must be under seven feet tall.

Currently, all guests need to register for a scheduled check-in time. Coaster rides are available Sunday through Thursday from 10-5, and Friday/Saturday from 10-8.
