Tiger Woods Involved In DUI Car Accident

On Friday, March 27th, golf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida.

Authorities later reported in a press conference that Woods had been arrested for driving under the influence. The crash happened shortly after 2 p.m. in the same town he resides. Woods was described as appearing “lethargic” at the time of the incident.

Details Released Surrounding The Crash

According to an arrest affidavit released on March 31st, Woods reportedly had bloodshot, glassy eyes with “extremely dilated pupils.”

Woods crossed double solid lines in his Land Rover and tried to pass another vehicle towing a trailer. During the maneuver, he hit the trailer, which caused his SUV to flip onto its side. Because the driver’s side was pinned against the ground, the other driver helped him exit through the passenger side, the affidavit said.

Court documents reveal Woods’ driver’s license was suspended.

A few days after the incident, the World Golf Hall of Famer said that he was “going to step away for a period of time” to focus on his health and recovery.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” Tiger wrote. “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

He added that he is “committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.”

Tiger Woods Ordered To Appear In Court

On May 5th, 2026, Woods has been ordered to appear in Martin County court following his arrest. According to a notice filed this week by the county clerk, Woods is expected to show at 8:30 a.m.

The professional golfer admitted he was looking at his cell phone and changing the radio station prior to the crash. He also told deputies that he had not consumed any alcohol, though he had taken “a few” prescribed medications earlier that day.
