Fans are outraged after the wild antics that often happen at a Treaty Oak Revival concert went way too far.

Over the past year, country/rock band Treaty Oak Revival has gained a reputation for wild experiences at their shows, especially during their hit song “Boomtown.”

It became a bit of a tradition for the band’s lead singer, Sam Canty, to start the song by tossing beer at front-row fans. But what began as a playful stunt has gradually turned into craziness at nearly every concert.

There have been multiple instances where intoxicated fans have joined in, throwing their own drinks, even hitting members of the band a time or two.

In a fan-recorded video from September, Canty is seen being hit in the face with what appears to be a full beer can. In the comments, the person who posted the clip also shared an aftermath photo showing Canty with a bloody cut on his face, dangerously close to his eye.

Treaty Oak Revival has addressed this behavior before. During an appearance on Tracy Lawrence’s TL’s Roadhouse podcast, Canty defended the band’s onstage beer-throwing that began to influence their fans.

“Our thing has always been the beer-shower thing,” Canty said. “I’ve been to festivals where they do it. They hold it up over their heads, and they swing it around in a circle, then you just [throw] the thing on the ground.”

He made it clear that they do not condone audience members throwing things that could put anyone at risk of injury.

“We don’t encourage it,” he clarified. “The biggest thing is, when you’re done throwing the liquid around, just put it on the ground.”

His PSA doesn’t seem to be helping much. If anything, things are getting more out of hand at shows. A recent concert proved just that, when fans began throwing trash cans from balcony seats.

The band was performing at First Horizon Coliseum in North Carolina when several crowd members were seen throwing large trash cans into the audience below.

In one video, a couple of people were holding a trash can that was meant for keeping the area clean. Instead, one man then grabs it and forcefully throws it into the packed crowd on the floor.

There was another moment at the same show where a different audience member was seen dumping trash out of a can before throwing it. The can hit the ceiling and then came crashing down.

So far, there haven’t been any reports of serious injuries from this. Still, the situation has brought fans together, with many calling for changes to make Treaty Oak Revival concerts safer.

People are even saying that they refuse to attend the band’s shows.

“I love treaty oak but that is the absolute worst concert of all time,” one person commented.

“About died,” a user said.

“treaty oak is actually so good live but people like this make it hard for others to want to go. The one I went to there was a lot of beer splashing and beer can throwing,” another fan wrote.

“Love treaty but I’d never go to a show bc of the videos I’ve seen. I’ll stick to my happy hippie people at billy strings shows lol,” said someone else.

“I’ve heard treaty oak is one of the worst concerts to go to audience wise. Can’t even enjoy a show cause people have no respect,” wrote another.

Treaty Oak Revival and the venue have not commented on the situation.
