More Than 4 Million Tubes Of Toothpaste Recalled

Parents have been encouraged to check their children’s bathroom shelves after millions of tubes of toothpaste are now under a nationwide recall. Some of the recalled products feature popular brands such as Barbie, Hot Wheels and Crayola.

The recall affects more than 4.7 million tubes across 17 toothpaste products distributed in the United States. Manufacturer Pritam International Private Limited first initiated the recall on September 10.

On October 19, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially classified the recall as Class II. According to the agency, this designation means exposure to the affected products could result in temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the risk of serious consequences is considered low.

What Toothpastes Have Been Recalled?

The FDA says the recall affects multiple types of Brush Buddies kids’ toothpaste sold across the country, including character-themed options and ice cream flavors. More than 1.78 million tubes are tied to the Barbie, Hot Wheels and Crayola-branded varieties alone.

According to USA Today, the FDA reports that the recall stems from “deviations from current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) requirements.”

The agency’s CGMP rules set standards for how drug products must be manufactured, processed and packaged. These regulations are intended to help ensure products meet safety and quality standards and contain the ingredients and strength indicated on their labels.

To find out whether a tube of toothpaste is included in the recall, consumers should check its product name, lot number and expiration date against the information provided in the FDA’s official recall notice.

The affected toothpaste products have expiration dates between November 2026 and June 2028. Consumers can find the full list of affected lot numbers, expiration dates and recall details in the FDA’s official enforcement report.
