Tucker Performed His Upbeat Hit Song “Brunette”

Coming in to the ACM Awards already a winner, country artist Tucker Wetmore performed “Brunette,” one of the biggest songs from his 2025 studio debut album, “What Not To.”

While the 61st ACM Awards were on Sunday, May 17, Tucker received the award for ACM New Male Artist of the Year early, receiving the prize on April 30.

With that victory already secured, 26-year-old Tucker was free to perform with confidence, demonstrating why he received the award this year.

Last year, in 2025, Tucker released his debut album, What Not To, featuring his previously successful 2024 single “Wind Up Missin’ You” as well as the lively “Brunette” and the hip-hop-tinged “Wine Into Whiskey.”

With “Brunette” being his focus for the ACM Awards, he delivered, hitting all of his marks on this tongue-twister of a song.

He even occasionally tugged at his own hair, which is brunette, as he sang the title word.

Revisit The Moment Tucker Wetmore’s Mom Surprised Him With ACM Award

At the ACM Awards, the ceremony’s host, Shania Twain, called Tucker’s mom up on stage to help introduce his performance.

Tucker’s mom, Sia Gould, had already been involved with Tucker’s path to the ACM stage, having presented his award for New Male Artist of the Year last month.

“I don’t mean to interrupt this amazing show, but, if anybody can do it, it’s me, his mom,” said country artist Tucker Wetmore’s mom at a sold-out show in London, England, on, April 30.

There, his mom directed him and the audience to a screen, where a familiar face was projected: Thomas Rhett.

“Congratulations on winning ACM Male New Artist of the Year,” Rhett said to the “Brunette” singer.

Joining Avery Anna, winner of New Female Artist of the Year, as early recipients of ACM awards this season, Tucker appeared both surprised and honored by the recognition.
