Randy Couture Was Airlifted To A Burn Center In Kansas City On Tuesday (July 8)
UFC legend Randy Couture was involved in a serious crash while practicing for his National Hot Rod Association debut, which was set to take place in June 2025.
On April 15th, Couture was announced as a new member of the Scag Racing team, driving as part of the Pro Mod program.
While practicing for his debut on Tuesday (July 8), Couture crashed his vehicle and sustained “serious injuries,” according to TMZ Sports.
He was airlifted to a burn center in Kansas City with first and second-degree burns, as well as smoke inhalation, and trauma injuries.
Who Is Randy Couture?
Couture is a three-time UFC Heavyweight Champion, two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and made history as the first fighter to win a championship in two different divisions. He is also the oldest person to win a championship at the age of 43.

Before his mixed martial arts career, Couture served in the US Army, was a Division 1 collegiate wrestler for Oklahoma State University, and represented America at different Greco-Roman wrestling tournaments such as the FILA World Championships and the Pan American Games, where he took home a gold medal in 1991.
Couture, whose nickname is “The Natural,” competed on the 19th season of Dancing with the Stars and was eliminated third. The current host of the show, Alfonso Ribiero, won that season.

What Was Randy Driving?
The car that Scag Racing put him in is a 1937 Chevy, according to their Instagram post on May 16. The car has a nickname of “Al Capone.” While we don’t know for sure which vehicle he was racing, he was pictured in this particular car a lot leading up to the crash.
He was supposed to make his debut in Richmond on the weekend of June 20-22, but he delayed it due to wanting to practice more and just not because he wanted to practice more and did not feel completely comfortable behind the wheel.
“We’ve been working hard, doing a lot of testing. Just not comfortable yet,” he said in an Intsagram video. ““I need some more seat time, especially in ‘Al Capone.’ Bottom line is I have to have more seat time to be safe, not only for myself, but for whoever I’m lining up against. I really wish I could be racing with my SCAG Racing teammates in Virginia, but it’s just not there yet.”
In the Instagram video, he mentioned he hoped to see everyone in Indiana, and according to the NHRA website, the next race in Indiana is in August.This is a developing story..
