“Voice” Artist Sings Kelly Clarkson’s “Because Of You” In Battle For Instant Save
on Dec 01, 2021
The pressure was on during the November 30th episode of The Voice. By the end of the night, the Top 10 contestants would become the Top 8, and two artists would be sent home.
Seven artists were saved by America’s votes. The remaining three contestants (Jeremy Rosado of Team Kelly, Holly Forbes of Team Ariana, and Jershika Maple of Team Legend) were left to compete for the Instant Save.
When it came time for Forbes to take the stage, she opted to sing a song by coach Kelly Clarkson. She performed a cover of “Because of You,” which Clarkson originally released in 2005.
Two years later, Clarkson united with her good friend Reba McEntire to release a new version of the song. Their duet reached the second spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Country Collaboration.
Blake Shelton said he thought “Because of You” was the perfect song for Forbes to sing as she battled for the Instant Save. He also said he was surprised to see her in the bottom three, because he always thought she’d make it all the way to the finale.
Forbes’ coach, Ariana Grande, was equally shocked. She never imagined Forbes would be in such a position, because she’s always considered her to be a “vocal titan.”
But in the end, it was Maple who won the Instant Save. Forbes and Rosado were eliminated.
After the results show wrapped up, Grande took to Twitter to share some kind words about Forbes:
“oh my god i love you so much @hollyforbes,” she said. “this is absolutely just the beginning and i cannot tell you how excited i am for everything you’re going to do. i’m here every step and you are entirely unstoppable, my brilliant friend.”
