Charlie Kirk Was Shot And Killed On September 10
Charlie Kirk kicked off his highly-anticipated college tour on September 10th at Utah Valley University. He was scheduled to appear at 20 college campuses this fall on his American Comeback tour, including Colorado State University, University of Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Utah State, Montana State, University of North Dakota, Indiana University, Louisiana State University, and Ole Miss.
Partway through his tour stop at Utah Valley University, Kirk was shot by a gunman.

President Trump confirmed his death, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead.”

Charlie is survived by his wife, Erika Kirk, their three-year-old daughter, and one-year-old son. Charlie and Erika kept their children’s identities private.
Erika Kirk was voted CEO of Turning Point and in her first act as the new leader of the company, she has announced they will continue the tour with different guests at each location.
Many Outlets Reported That Erika Kirk Was In The Audience
After Charlie was shot, many outlets were reporting that Erika Kirk and her children were in the audience, citing a tweet from Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin, as reported by BBC.

On September 11, BBC issued a correction, writing, “An earlier version of this post said Kirk’s wife and children were on the university campus. In fact this is unclear.“
However, their redaction may have been too late.
Several social media pages have “confirmed” that Erika and their two children, ages three and one, were in the first row and his children watched him die.
One content creator even told their followers that Charlie and Erika’s daughter ran up to Charlie after the gun.

We now know that these reports are false.
In A New York Times Interview, Erika Revealed She Was Not Present When Her Husband Was Shot
Days after Charlie Kirk died, Erika Kirk sat down with The New York Times for her first interview since her husband’s death. She revealed that the night before his death, they had dinner with a good friend, who happened to be a faith leader.
They prayed over Charlie and his upcoming journey that would take him to 20 college campuses throughout the fall. Although Charlie was excited, Erika and their friend were concerned for his safety, with Erika urging him to start wearing a bulletproof vest, and the friend suggested that Charlie have bulletproof glass between him and the crowd.
Charlie’s response was, “Not yet,” assuring them that he was confident in his security team and the security on the campus.
In the interview, Erika revealed that she was supposed to accompany her husband to Utah Valley University for the first stop of his tour, but her mother was having a medical treatment in Phoenix. Charlie told her, “Home needs you,” and encouraged her to be there for her mom and meet him at the next stop, Colorado State University.
Erika was in her mom’s hospital room when she got a phone call from Michael McCoy, Charlie’s longtime assistant.
“In retrospect, she said she knew the words — ‘He’s been shot!’ — before Mr. McCoy screamed them,” the outlet writes.
Charlie’s plane traveled back to Scottsdale to pick up Erika and bring her to the Provo hospital, where Charlie was taken. Sadly, he was pronounced dead while she was flying to be by his side.
“I’m looking at the clouds and the mountains,” Erika said. “It was such a gorgeous day, and I was thinking: This is exactly what he last saw.”
