“Choosin’ Texas” Makes History
Ella Langley has released the music video for her hit song “Choosin’ Texas,” following its record-breaking success.
Back in October, Ella Langley released her single “Choosin’ Texas,” which fans later learned would be the lead single from her second studio album, Dandelion, set to drop on April 10.
The album isn’t even out yet, but the song has already become a huge milestone in her career.
It debuted at #37 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, and by December, it reached #1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart, her first time topping the charts as a solo artist.
The song also became the fastest-rising solo track at U.S. radio this decade, reaching the top 10 in just eight weeks.
Then, in February, Langley made history when “Choosin Texas” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Country Airplay charts.
She became the first female country artist to ever hold the top spot on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts at the same time.
Ella Langley Drops Star-Studded Music Video For “Choosin’ Texas” Ft. Luke Grimes, Miranda Lambert + More!
The love for “Choosin’ Texas” has been incredible. It’s safe to say that when Langley and country superstar Miranda Lambert sat down to write the song together, they probably didn’t imagine it would skyrocket to this level.
So, in return for fans helping the song reach such success, Langley is giving them an unforgettable music video to go along with it.
On Wednesday, April 1, the official music video for “Choosin’ Texas” was released, and it has a huge lineup of famous faces.
Langley teased the video the day before its release and revealed some of the celebrities making cameos. In the clip, fans see Miranda Lambert, Yellowstone and Marshals actors Luke Grimes, country singer Kaitlin Butts, champion bull rider JB Mauney, and Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, Ava Phillippe.
If you’ve listened to the song (and at this point, who hasn’t???), you know it tells the story of a complicated relationship, where the protagonist watches the person she loves fall for someone else.
In the video, Langley brings that tale to life perfectly.
The video opens with Ella and Luke driving a truck and trailer to Abilene, Texas. She asks if he ever regrets leaving his home state, but he assures her that he doesn’t because he wouldn’t have met her if he didn’t.
The scene then cuts to them walking hand in hand into a bar to meet some friends, and Miranda Lambert happens to be the live entertainment for the evening.
But, suddenly, Luke’s character notices an all too familiar face. It’s a girl he seems to consider a childhood love. As the video continues, it becomes clear that she’s “the one that got away” after he left Texas.
Nearing the end of the video, Ella realizes he’ll always see her as his second choice, so she hitches a ride back to Tennessee with Lambert and her band, leaving him behind.
