Lainey Wilson Recently Dropped Her New Song “Somewhere Over Laredo”
In the weeks leading up to her new song’s release, Wilson teased the track by posting several clips of herself singing parts of it on social media.
Then, on May 23, the country superstar officially dropped the full version for fans to hear.
Wilson’s song is inspired by Judy Garland’s classic “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”
She also gives a shout-out to Alan Jackson’s 1990 hit “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” by singing the song title directly in the lyrics.
When the song came out, she shared a statement about what it means to her:
“When I’m flying between shows I catch myself looking out the window, talking to God, dreaming, or even reminiscing. “Somewhere Over Laredo” tells a story that speaks to that. I’ve always been inspired by putting myself into other peoples’ shoes and telling stories from others’ perspective, but I’ve found a new creative avenue with this one putting myself back into a pair of shoes that I wore years ago.”
