Jelly Roll, the rapper-turned-country star, is making waves in the country music scene.

With a string of #1 hits, a successful arena tour, and accolades like the CMA New Artist of the Year, Jelly Roll is undeniably at the top of his game. However, when it comes to his Entertainer of the Year nomination at the upcoming ACM Awards, Jelly Roll has some surprising thoughts.

Seven exceptional nominees are up for the Entertainer of the Year award alongside Jelly, including Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, and Lainey Wilson.

In a recent interview with Country Heat Weekly, Jelly Roll, despite his remarkable success, has voiced doubts about his nomination, expressing that he may be a bit early for such recognition. He appreciates the nod but feels that others, like Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, who are selling out stadiums, might be more deserving at this point in his career.

“When they said, ‘You’ve been nominated four times,’ I was like, ‘I didn’t think they had four categories small enough for me to be nominated!’”

During the interview, Jelly discussed his impressive nominations and the significance of returning to the ACM awards this year as a nominee. This marks a special moment for him, especially considering that he had the opportunity to perform as the only non-nominated artist last year with Lainey Wilson.

“It’s nuts, it’s unreal, man. For the ACMs, it’s really special to me because last year, because of when ‘Son Of A Sinner’ had came out, I didn’t qualify to be in any category. And we debuted ‘Save Me’ there, of course. I was the only artist who got to perform there that wasn’t nominated. Lucky for me, Lainey was nominated…But to be able to go back this year, four time nominated, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Event of the Year, but you know, it’s crazy!”

Who does Jelly think should win the 2024 ACM Entertainer of the Year award?

Interestingly, Jelly Roll believes that Cody Johnson should be the one to take home the award. He applauds Johnson’s work ethic, live show energy, and ability to sell out arenas without the same level of radio support as some of the other nominees.

“Frankly, if I could give the award away myself, I would give it to Cody Johnson. I don’t think anybody’s going to do more shows than him this year. I don’t think anybody works harder than him. And I don’t know if y’all have ever seen a Cody Johnson live show, but I mean it’s like he’s riding a bull. It’s like he never left. He brings bullrider energy for 90-something – it’s insane to me that he’s in that good of shape.”

Funnily enough, another country artist up for the title cast their for another deserving artist, as well. Luke Combs recently revealed that he thinks Kane Brown should win Entertainer of the Year.

In the end, whichever talented artist emerges victorious at this year’s ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, it’s clear that each one of them has made significant contributions to country music and is deserving of recognition.

It’s all about celebrating the diverse talents that make country music the vibrant and dynamic genre that it is. So, let’s sit back, enjoy the music, and see who takes home the trophy at the ACM Awards!
