Carrie Underwood is returning to the show that made her a star! The American Idol champ just announced that she’ll be giving fans a sneak peek of the music video for her latest chart-topping single, “Cry Pretty,” on Sunday, May 6, on the show that she won in 2005.

Underwood shared the news on Instagram along with a brief clip of the video and a caption that read, “Watch American Idol on  ABC Network Sunday night at 8e/5p for a sneak peek of my new music video for #CryPretty!” Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed the quick announcement at the end that states the entire video will be premiered on Sunday!

If the teaser is any indication, we’re in for an emotional, tear-filled video from Underwood who just recently returned to the spotlight after a frightening fall in November that left her with a broken wrist and facial injuries that required more than 40 stitches. “Cry Pretty” is Carrie’s first single since her return and her first chart-topping song in nearly four years.

“[‘Cry Pretty’] is kind of just all about emotions, and I feel like as humans we’re just kind of expected to have our crap together all the time,” Underwood told radio host Bobby Bones in her first post-accident interview. “And being a mom and a wife and trying to navigate what we do, every once in a while there’s just a bubble-over of emotion. We’re just kind of discouraged, I think, from doing that in life. And sometimes you just have to cry, and it might be unattractive, and it might be a sad ugly moment, but it has to happen and it’s OK.”

Underwood debuted “Cry Pretty” with a powerful live performance during the ACM Awards in April that earned her a lengthy standing ovation. The song is also the title track for her upcoming sixth studio album that is scheduled to be released in September.
