Comedian Chris Rock and actor Will Smith appeared to have an altercation during Sunday night’s live broadcast of the Academy Awards. Rock was on stage to present the award for Best Documentary Feature when he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith appearing in “G.I. Jane” because of her bald head.

“Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2…can’t wait to see it,” Rock said to Pinkett Smith who didn’t seem impressed with the joke.

Will Smith then made his way to the stage where he appeared to take a swing at Rock. It’s unclear if the altercation was staged, but Smith seemed visibly bothered when he yelled at Rock from the audience, saying: “Keep my wife’s name out of your ****ing mouth!” Most of the additional commentary from Rock was muted on American television.

Those in attendance looked stunned by the incident, with Rock responding to Smith’s comment by simply saying, “That was the greatest night in the history of television.

Diddy was the next to present during the awards show and addressed the altercation by calling out Will and Chris saying, “Will and Chris, we’re going to solve this like family. Right now we’re moving on with love. Everybody make some noise.”

Jada Pinkett Smith, Will’s wife of 25 years, revealed last year that she had shaved her head after struggling with hair loss.

“Now at this point, I can only laugh…y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia. Just all of a sudden, one day…it just showed up like that. Now, this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide. So, I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions…Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something. Me and this alopecia are going to be friends…period!”
