Willie Nelson Gets Real About Arrests & Retirement During Interview With Sammy Hagar
on Apr 18, 2019
After six decades in the industry, one thing is for sure – Willie Nelson is a musical legend. From selling out arenas to traveling the world, he’s pretty much done it all in his 85 years around the sun. While it seems like the Red-Headed Stranger is always on the go, one lucky rockstar got a chance to spend some quality time with him.
Coffee & Conversation
In a new interview with The Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, Nelson gets candid about all things in his world. From arrests to retirement, the singer gives us the inside scoop to what’s next.
Hagar is getting ready to kick off the fourth season of the AXS TV series Rock & Roll Road Trip. The series takes the host across the nation where he meets and interviews with stars on their own territory. On season four you can expect to see Charlie Daniels, Rick Springfield, and even Guy Fieri.
An exclusive first look of the first episode takes Hagar into Nelson’s tour bus for a candid conversation over coffee. Hagar admits from the start,
“I’ve been chasing you around for three years, trying to get you to do this TV show with me.” Willie, looking surprised, begins laughing when Hagar continues, “You finally slowed down enough where I caught ya.”
Hagar continues the interview by asking the legend if he’s ever been arrested in his traveling home. Nelson, of course, had a witty response.
“Oh, I’ve been arrested in everything I’ve owned.”
Not to worry, Nelson jokes, they give him a nice jail cell in his home state of Texas.
Nelson and his upbeat spirit keep the interview lively, as he jokes around about the idea of retirement.
“Well, I say, ‘This is my last tour.'” Nelson smiles, “Yeah, every time I say ‘This is the last one.'”
