She said she woke up at 1am to hearing her dogs barking and scuffling around in the living room. Curious, she went in there to see what the ruccus was and figure a mouse or something had gotten under the tree.

“I was on my hands and knees moving presents, ready to catch and release whatever it was, only to realise it was a snake,” Felicity told ABC.

When Felicity realized what it was, she gathered her dogs, Oreo, DJ and Roxy and put them a save area until she could deal with the snake. She then went to the kitchen and grabbed a large pot to put over the snake to quarantine it.

So from a snake under the Christmas tree, to a snake under a pot, to 4 chopping boards under the snake, to snake in a box. I officially want to live in an inner city apartment

“I put it over the snake and then woke my daughter … she absolutely loves snakes and would have been devastated if she missed out,” she said.

Her daughter Ella who is 13 years old, named the snake Ryan and slid a chopping board under the pot to fully capture it. They called Reptile Rescue Tasmania shortly after to come remove the snake from the home and transport it to a safe location to be released.
