Woman Pulled From Alligator Waters After Paraglider Sees Her & Lands
on Nov 03, 2022
Paraglider Cristiano Piquet posted a video to his YouTube channel showing him flying through the air on Sunday (Oct 30) when he spotted a woman who wrecked her car in alligator-infested waters.
The video shot from his GoPro showed him looking down from the sky at the woman laying on top of her car which was more than 95% submerged in a canal beside a dirt road.
He circled around the scene a few times before finding a spot in a farmer’s field that looked like the best place he could land, along with his paraglider friend who followed behind him.
“We landed between power lines and uneven terrain…it was a terrible landing situation. For some reason, I was calm,” Cristiano told NBC Miami. “I think God told me, ‘My friend, land and save that one life.'”
He ran to the bank of the canal and yelled at the lady and she yelled back at him.
“Oh my god, I fell with my car in here,” she replied to him, while desperately clinging to the vehicle.
Within a few minutes, a farmer walked over to the scene and saw what was going on and that’s when he called 911 and stepped in to help.
The farmer went and got a rope and threw it out to the lady so she could grab a hold of it. He then pulled her to the water’s edge where he then managed to grip her up under her arms and pulled her out of the canal.
Shortly after that, the fire department and police officers arrived on the scene and provided the woman with medical services. They made sure she and everyone else was taken care of and then the woman was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department said they got to the location around 8:35am which borders the Everglades National Park southwest of Miami.
Local authorities added that they are unclear how the car ended up in the canal but they said a full investigation is underway.
