On Saturday (July 11), South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham passed away suddenly at the age of 71.

Graham spent more than 30 years in public service, representing South Carolina in Congress from 1995 until 2026. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003 before being elected to the U.S. Senate, where he served until his death. Outside of politics, Graham also served in the U.S. Air Force and the South Carolina Air National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 2015 with the rank of colonel.

Graham briefly sought the Republican nomination for president during the 2016 election cycle but suspended his campaign in December 2015 as Donald Trump and several other candidates pulled ahead in the race before the primary elections.
